My work has a really cool tradition of knowledge sharing.
Everyone is magically talented and also everyone is really nice, so when we have an evening with a couple spare hours those attributes meet for a workshop.
We've joined at the big table for workshops on paper cutting, stamp carving, collaging, gardening, candy sculpture, 3D rendering- the list goes on.
My time for workshop leading popped up and I used my slot to teach everyone the basics of video editing.
It's something that can seem super intimidating if you don't know where to start, so it's helpful to have an editing sherpa to get you through those first phases. We waded through the workflow and some helpful shortcuts, and almost everyone had produced a short video by the end of the night.
Everyone learned how to:
organize footage
set up a new project and timeline
use in and out points
arrange footage on a timeline
lay music and cut to the beat
utilize my favorite shortcuts
find and use effects and transitions
export their final video
Success city.
