I embrace living in a gray area.
Nature is definitely one of those things that lives in said gray area for me. I'm not super outdoorsy. I love being outside, but I have a tenuous relationship with the things that live in nature. I'm still on the hunt for a natural setting that doesn't include spiders (no gray area when it comes to spiders).
Another work perk, along with workshops, is the annual retreat to upstate New York. Smack dab in the middle of nature. We journey from San Francisco to Upstate New York to spend a week at our boss' property to build things, both online and in nature, together.
Today we started and finished a path from the wood-fired sauna to the brook that cuts through the property. We cleared a walkway, lined it with stones we found around the property, and created steps from massive slabs of stones leading down from the sauna. I felt very one with nature and like one of those zen people in athleisure clothing commercials. But also now I'm in the big bunkhouse on the property which has access to the internet and running water so I guess I'm embracing the balance.
