Hi remember when I showed off my first weavings? I've graduated to TREES. NO BIG DEAL.
I'm still in nature with my colleagues and our task today was to set out on our own and create a piece of land art. My recent love of weaving inspired me to create a tapestry using string and natural materials gathered from the surrounding forest.
My first two challenges were to find a tree I could warp and then to figure out how to actually warp something without notches or pegs. Both which actually turned out to be pretty simple. I created a system for myself in which I double warped each row, which later allowed me to stick smaller twigs and leaves in between the double warp and get them to stick.
I couldn't do any of the fancier stitches or knots, so I stuck with a straight weave with some made up techniques thrown in. It was kind of nice knowing it won't survive very long, frees up a little of the perfectionist side.
